Where do you get lessons in Salford? Can you just go and see any alexander teacher, or do they have to be music ones???

    And student discounts?

    Hi Paul

That’s a really good question you ask – should you be seeing an Alexander Technique teacher who specialises in music? No, they don’t have to be musicians to help you as a musician

My first Alexander teacher wasn’t a musician. She was a very experienced teacher though, and taught me everything I needed to know to be able to understand how it related to playing my instrument. I think it has much more to do with how experienced and capable a teacher you have.

Having said that, there’s no harm in finding a capable teacher who’s also an experienced teacher and has gone through the changes you would like to go through. This would be ideal.

To find a teacher, I suggest the STAT website to see who’s near you. See whats on their website. Get in touch. Maybe set up a first lesson and go from there.

Some teachers do offer some discounts. You’d have to ask. I take it you’re a music student?

I think I’ve found a good teacher. Thanks. We’re going to start lessons in January. Not a professional musician, but she has worked with musicians before, including a quite famous one who I can’t mention here 😉
