    A friend of mine has very tight shoulders when she plays the fiddle. She’s had to stop recently because the pain got too much for her. She even has trouble lifting her arms above her head. She’s not big into therapies, I don’t know what to suggest for her?

    It’s hard to know what to suggest here Rebo. She clearly knows that she needs to take action to treat her shoulders. If she doesn’t want to, she doesn’t want to. Have you suggested she see someone?

    If she doesn’t want to see anyone, why not suggest she plays in front of a mirror or two, and look for signs of what she’s doing that might be causing her pain? She could look out for stiffening her neck, raising her shoulders, anything that takes her body out of balance…
